John Favreau goes back to his indie roots. Just like the food truck has the most indie street-cred in the culinary world.
The roller coaster ride of starting and operating a food truck is shown in this movie when Chef Carl Casper (Favreau, who also writes and directs) decides to move back to Miami to open a food truck when he felt he wasn’t given enough creative freedom as head chef in an LA restaurant. All the hilarity from setting up a truck, managing its social media, and getting a bad review is portrayed here. It is about following your dreams and pursuing one’s passions. It’s about connecting with your customers and being one with the community. And of course, its about realizing that family is the most important thing in the world.
Opens May 9 in theaters.
