Lately here in Food Truck Fatty, we have been featuring various feeding organizations that utilize food trucks for their outreach programs. There are food banks, school feeding projects, and non-profit community organizations (see our Feeding Program features here). These everyday heroes bring joy and hope to those in the community that can no longer take care of themselves, are currently down on their luck, or may be in a dark stage in their lives. On top of that, most are volunteers who demand nothing in return and are happy to have played a vital role in touching another person’s life.
But these volunteers are people as well. People that also need a pat on the back every now and then or an extra push to help them keep going. It is great that there are organizations such as the Cabot Creamery Cooperative, a co-op of dairy farmers in upstate New York and New England who acknowledge the hard work of these groups via a program they call the Farmers’ Gratitude Grille. What better way to thank these hard working employees that feed other people, than by preparing a special meal and feeding them as well.
The Farmers’ Gratitude Grille food truck can visit your organization and prepare a home cooked meal full of TLC and sprinkled with their world famous Cabot cheddar cheese. This may be done while one of your projects or activities is being conducted. Just mid this year, the Farmer’s Gratitude Grille embarked on the Cabot Community Tour 2014, a 36-day tour that brought them to 29 cities from Jacksonville, Florida to New York City. Along the way, they were able to feed 1,300 volunteers from 97 organizations.
