Feed Fred is a 501 (c) nonprofit organization in Fredericksburg, VA that feeds homeless people and provide skills training to help them find employment.
Paula Bartello and her team provide Sunday breakfast to the needy at the local VFW and delivers home cooked meals as well as non-perishable food items and clothing to families living in motels, the sick, seniors, and shut in residents. She currently cooks from her home kitchen and delivers the food with the family’s mini-van. But recently a good-hearted mechanic from the area donated a 26-seater bus which Paula plans to convert into a mobile kitchen.
This is why Feed Fred is raising funds for this project as well as for her regular feeding programs. You can get more details here: http://www.gofundme.com/Feed-Fred. Donations in kind of food and clothes are also accepted at the office of CBAI & Associates at 1125 Jefferson Davis Hwy, Suite 280, Fredericksburg, VA 22401 (Next to Eagle Village Shopping Center).
One of the specialties Paula and volunteers prepare is a hearty and filling dish she fondly calls “Gringarritos” or a burrito made by a Gringa or white woman. She called it this since she usually fills the burrito with Corned beef hash or Philly cheese steak.
Once the food truck is up, they will also be selling the Gringarritos to the public as another source of income. They will also be having a shrimp and chicken taco, as well as a sweet potato burrito.
For donations or if you want to volunteer and help out personally, you can contact Paula at (540) 429-1187, paula@feedfred.com and her FB page here.
