(LAS CRUCES, NM) – As part of giving back to the community it serves, the Luchador food truck, in coordination with Casa de Peregrinos food bank, has been serving meals to the homeless. The Lucha 4 Hope event was able to serve 60 hungry stomachs during the last one, even giving out seconds.
Attendees were treated to a gourmet quality meal consisting of pork chops with a thyme cream sauce, garlic mashed potatoes, and grilled asparagus. Funded by Casa de Peregrinos, the event is done once a month at the food bank’s parking lot on 999 W. Amador Ave.
The food truck co-owners, Ivan Saenz and Otilio Reyes, have known right away when they started the business that they would also want to try and help the community it caters to. They are also calling on other participants and donors to help in sustaining the program.
Those interested can contact Casa de Peregrinos at 575-523-5542. They are open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The Luchador food truck can currently be found outside of Las Cruces International Airport, 8990 Zia Boulevard and can be reached at 575-650-2078.
